PASSERIFORMES: Artamidae
Strepera fuliginosa
We spent a week birding in Tasmania, a week, coincidentally, which has gone down in the books as one of the wettest August weeks in Tasmania's history. Boy do we know how to pick 'em.
On the day this photo was taken it only rained once - a shower which lasted the entire day! Just as we were giving up for the day coming back down from a very soggy, boggy and foggy Mount Wellington this Black Currawong kindly presented itself for these photos. Being a new bird for me it was the silver lining I needed to brighten the otherwise drab overcast day.
